Pinterest Inspired Classroom Project--Just Like New

So, I ran into a 2nd hand shop to grab some cleats for my big boy who is playing soccer.  It was literally a half hour before his first game (I could never buy a full priced pair of cleats for him to wear only 10 times and decided at the last minute to see if just maybe I could find some cheap ones!) so we were in a BIG hurry!  On the way out, I spotted a Rubber Maid double step stool and, although it was covered in mud and dried up grass, for $2, I could see the diamond in the rough.  I needed a taller stool for my students to be able to reach up to the Promethean Board activities and, once again, I refuse to pay top dollar for items for my classroom.
I wished I got a picture of it BEFORE I scrubbed it up, but here it is in all its glory:
And here it is after my sweet husband painted it with RustOleum spray paint for plastics.

And here it is after I put a little love on it.  I used a fat Sharpie marker to write the words and yellow puffy paint to color in the stars:

  3. Love this! I will definitely be checking out some thrift stores in the future. Great slogan "reach high, stand tall" because it applies to everything we do in education. Thank you for sharing!

  8. That is so cute!! I could use one like that...my {really nice} wood one from Target was recalled. Since I work with toddlers & preschoolers, I need two steps like that.
