Welcome Back to School Letter Packet FREEBIE

I love Linky Parties!  I am linking up with First Grade Frame of Mind's Blog to share my Back to School letters.  If you haven't figured it out yet, I can't do anything simple and that is one of my biggest strengths AND biggest weaknesses, so I can't just send a letter. I send a packet to all of my students.  I happen to know what makes children happy (good thing, right?), so I send a packet to all of my incoming students.  In my packet there is this Jitter Glitter poem (not originated, only innovated by me!) copied onto the funkiest, brightest paper I can find:
With a little bag of Jitter Glitter attached to it.
 Some fun stickers (of course!):

And a nametag for them to wear on the first day of school.  I always write my name on it, too, because we usually have 5 kindergarten classrooms and the children truly have no idea who they belong to or even where their classroom is the first couple of days.
I also stick a Caution: Jitter Glitter Enclosed label on the envelope as well as a BIG, BRIGHTLY colored sticker.  This packet is lots of work and a bit of money, but I know that it helps some of the parents and their children calm down a bit before the big day, which, in the end, helps me out as well.  It starts building the community-feeling before they even enter the classroom and that is a win-win situation! :)
Oh, yes, and this is another example of a letter we've sent before that I ordered FREE from

  1. I LOVE these! You really are an amazing teacher! You know... the school I just left we were not allowed to let our families in the hallway or into the classroom the first three weeks of school. It really went against everything I believe as a teacher (and parent.) These are just great and I am so owning these this year!

  2. Jennifer, You are way too kind. I can try to upload a generic version of these to google docs if you want. I didn't at first because they are kind of personalized, but I can try to make them less so...if you want! Thank you, your words are very much appreciated!

  3. Thank you for coming to my linky party! Great, fun idea...jitter glitter!

  4. I am beginning in Kindergarten in a couple of weeks. I am so impressed with your ideas and your enthusiasm.

  5. I love your Jitter Glitter poem! Do you mind if I use it?

  6. Very cute glitter poem but I think there is a typo in the last sentence, "I Can't for school to start so I can see you." Should it say "Can't wait"??? ;)
