This is one way my students practice their popcorn words (a.k.a. sight words that "pop" up all of the time). I call it Pokey Pins and all you need is a soft surface (rug, foam) and push pins and your students can go from this:

As an added bonus, it is an excellent activity for the kiddos little hand muscles and always a classroom favored activity. Try it this year with your students!

I used to do this with the bigger sized puchpins and I would cut up carpet squares into 4X6 pieces to match the letter we were push pinning. (I used it for letter recognition; I guess the sizes of carpet would be bigger for words!) :) Amy
